Toronto, Canada-based emo rock artist, Hollow River, delivers his anthemic new single, “Aspartame.” Hollow River is a pop-punk rapper who released his debut album, Bleed Only Water, in 2019. His latest single, “Aspartame,” is an angsty emo-rock jam featuring playful guitar riffs, bouncy rap verses, and an anthemic chorus. Hollow River says the song’s story start when he was a child and his parents made him switch to diet soda. Now, using music to process a childhood of negative comments and forced habits, Hollow River is spreading awareness, stating, “To me the song is about those feelings of being told something about the world is normal and realizing that the narrative you’ve been sold isn’t real but how those lies cause real harm.” Hollow River’s new single, “Aspartame,” is an emo rock banger and the perfect addition to any indie-rock playlist.
