Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based pop punk band, Shock Value, drop their debut album, When Lightning Strikes. Shock Value is an alternative rock band consisting of members, Nick Bader (Vocals), Matt Rice (Lead Guitar), Nick Roach (Rhythm Guitar), Corey Gross (Bass), and Zach Dresch (Drums), who released their debut single, “Rockstar,” in January of 2023. Their album, When Lightning Strikes, is a 10 track project filled with energetic pop punk. The album was a change of pace for singer Nick, who stated, “‘Rockstar’ was the song that started it all. The song is honestly about the feeling I had about switching genres. ‘Rockstar’ is an example of when taking a risk pays off. Making my transition from hip hop to pop punk doesn’t always translate, but I knew from the moment it was recorded, that it was the start of something special.”
Another single from the album is “Paradise” which the band says is a personal favorite, “It feels like an anthem. We learned a lot about our potential while in the studio recording this one. The song is actually loosely based on an acid trip, but we tried to leave it open for interpretation.”
