Posted on February 11, 2024February 11, 2024 By James Kerr 1 Comment on Waxy Shellac and the Tasteless Apples – Shelf Life

Hull, Massachusetts-based rock band Waxy Shellac and the Tasteless Apples deliver their debut album, Shelf Life. Waxy Shellac and the Tasteless Apples are a classic rock band consisting of members, Fred Meltzer (guitar/bass/drums/keys/lead vocals), Mike Travers (lead guitar), Joe Clapp (lead guitar), Kaile Dutton (vocals), Andrew Geano (vocals), Heather Jones (vocals), and Steve Tapper (sax). Their new release, Shelf Life, is a 13-track album that takes an eclectic mixture of acoustic rock, yacht rock, and classic rock to provide a dynamic listening experience. The instrumentation on the project develops an Americana-influenced soundscape by utilizing twangy guitars, groovy bass, and driving percussion. Fred’s comforting vocal performances are highlighted by his storytelling ability and talent for presenting relatable concepts. Lyrically, the album touches on a number of subjects including social commentary on the medical industry, social media, and pro sports, as well as including the occasional love ballad. Waxy Shellac and the Tasteless Apples’ debut album Shelf Life is a delightful contemporary rock classic and the perfect addition to any soft rock playlist.
